BTech ECE Admission Process, Entrance Exams, Scope 2020-21

B Tech ECE is a 4-year program focused on technologies in critical areas such as telecommunications, electricity and electronics, while promoting the development of the skills required to combine hardware and software components.

It is pursued by students that have cleared 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects. It involves the study of design, analysis, and application of electronics and communication circuits.

This course is divided into a total of eight semesters, two semesters per year. Both practical and theory exams are held at the end of each year. The curriculum provides students with a solid base in the foundations of electronics and communications engineering through classes such as Analog & Digital Communications, Signals and Structures, Modern Logic & Circuits, Coding, etc.

Distance education University

The approximate tuition fee of the course ranges from INR 1,00,000 to 4,00,000. However, some private institute fees can go up to INR 6,00,000 to 7,00,000. The program enables students to develop new electronic systems useful for real applications. BTech ECE course focuses on telecommunications, energy and electronics sectors.

Students after completing BTech ECE can work in various government and private sectors as Electronic Engineer, Design Engineer, VLSI Engineer etc. Students can get a remuneration of INR 1,80,000 to 3,00,000 per annum at entry level.

What is the BTech ECE Admission Process?
For candidates seeking admission to BTech ECE, eligible students need to clear the entrance exam, group discussion and personal interview round.

The application forms for the exam are available in the months of November and December.
The combination of marks scored in 10+2 level examination and in the JEE Advanced is considered for admission in this course.
The selection process is carried out once the student clears the entrance exam which is then followed by a group discussion round and personal interview round.
For Lateral Entry admission, candidates holding a diploma in Electronics and Communication are also eligible for BTech ECE program.

To apply for BTech ECE program, candidate needs to clear the following eligibility criteria:

Minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 from a recognized board
Students must clear 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects.

What are the top BTech ECE Entrance Exams?
Candidates can appear for JEE or institute level examinations to secure a seat in BTech ECE program. The JEE system covers IITs, NITs, and centrally funded technical institutes. Some of the entrance exams for BTech ECE are listed below:

JEE Main: A national level exam to secure a seat in the prestigious institutes of India. The skills tested in this exam are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It is carried out in the month of April.
JEE Advanced: It is for students who clear the JEE Main and want to take admission in IITs. The questions in this exam are from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It is carried out in the month of May.
VITEEE: It is conducted by VIT University.
BITSAT: BITS Pilani conducts entrance exams to secure admission in their campus across the country.
SRMJEE: It is a common entrance test conducted which is accepted by all four campus of SRM Group.
Other entrance exams for B. Tech. programs are VITEEE, BITSAT, SRMJEE etc. Some universities like Sharda University, Noida, Amity University, Noida and many other private universities take direct admission to the course.
